Trip Overview:

The Bicycle Journey through Thailand's Heritage transports you to historical eras along a path crafted by the builders of kingdoms. Ayutthaya, our starting point, is a city that thrived as one of the most prosperous in the East for centuries. Our final destination is the present capital, Bangkok, also referred to as Krung Thep by locals, which was established by the Chakri dynasty. This is not a difficult cycle, and is filled with beauty, and history.

Day 1: Arrival in Chiang Mai

Activity: Arrive in Chiang Mai (pickups from the airport will be available)

Highlights: Enjoy a relaxing night exploring the Old City and the Wua Lua Walking Street

Day 2: Chiang Mai to Lampang

Activity: Cycle to Lampang (50 km) with a partial transfer by van (55 km)

Highlights: Learn about Lanna style pagodas, Lamphun Musuem and the ancient kingdoms of Haripunchal and the historical ruins of Wiang Khum Khan, a settlement dated back to the 11th century

Day 3: Lampang to Phrae

Activity: Ride to Phrae (63km) with another partial transfer from Lampang

Highlights: Understand the settlements of the Tai Yuan people who established the Lanna kingdom and developed their own language and alphabet before visiting Wat Phra Lampang Luang.

Day 4: Phrae to Sukhothai

Activity: Ride to Sukhothai (30 km) with a transfer from Phrae

Highlights: Visit Khum Chao Luang, the last ruler of the Phrae before experiencing the first kingdom of the Thai people, Sukhothai which was established in 1238 on a leisurely ride amidst temples and ruins.

Day 5: Sukhothai to Uthai Thani

Activity: Ride to Uthai Thani (30 km) with a transfer from Sukhottha

Highlights: Head to Kamphaeng Phet Historical Park, a UNESCO heritage site before relaxing at the Phra Ruang hot springs and heading back on the road to the Hat Shannon village where villagers are skilled in making custom knifes

Day 6: Uthai Thani to Ayutthaya

Activity: Ride to Ayutthaya (60km)

Highlights: Explore Wat Chaiyo Worawihan on the cycle across peaceful rice paddy fields before enjoying a local lunch

Day 7: Ayutthaya to Bangkok

Activity: Ride to Bangkok (30 km)

Highlights: Visit Ayutthaya Historical Park, another UNESCO heritage site and learn the legacy of a kingdom who ruled for centuries
